The club was formed in 1948 to give the men who had fought in the war a venue in which to socialise.
It took over from the Ripley Literary and Mechanics Institute which occupied the building since it’s erection for the community in 1854.
After a huge effort the club has been successful in purchasing the Town Hall and is now engaged in major work to the fabric. Past improvements include the installation of a catering kitchen and disabled access lifts to the building and to the first and second floors.
The hall is used daily by Ripley primary school for dinners and PE and is the home to numerous community groups.
