Hope and Social make their first visit to Ripley having been the official band of the Tour de France and playing at Leeds Arena. Here is a review of one of their recent gigs -
"This band and their style defy pigeonholing - comprising the usual drums/bass/guitar/keyboards, they add trombone/trumpet/saxophone and another set of keyboards/guitar, the latter played by the hugely talented Simon who sings brilliantly and with great humour, connects with the audience as good as any frontman. Their musical style is melodic, full of 'sing-along' chorus lines and refrains, and creates a feel-good factor amongst all present that is rare to witness these days. The band obviously love what they do, and boy do they do it well, whether showing off individual instrumental skills, singing in perfect harmony, or playing so tightly together (I was particularly impressed with way the brass section blended their sounds). It left me, at the end of their 1hr 45min set, feeling so elated, as if I had been to one of the best parties ever, and just wanting more. Afterwards, the band came out to meet the audience, sell cd's (at whatever price you wanted to pay), chat and sign autographs. That Hope & Social are not a massive hit nationwide (and beyond) is a travesty of the modern music industry - they are totally brilliant! "
